Aaron and Sarah: A Fairytale Wedding at Luttrellstown Castle

Every now and again, we get the chance to film a wedding that feels like a storybook coming to life. Amy and Conar’s big day at the beautiful Tankardstown House near Slane was one of those days. A celebration filled with elegance, laughter, and just the right amount of Irish summer sun — you know, the kind that peeks out for twenty minutes, then politely excuses itself behind a cloud (sure, we wouldn’t know what to do with too much sun anyway).
Tankardstown House, set in the heart of County Meath, is one of those venues that seems to have it all — sweeping gardens, charming architecture, and a peaceful country setting that makes you forget the world beyond its gates. As a wedding videographer in Ireland, I’ve had the pleasure of filming at many beautiful spots across the country, but this place continues to hold a special kind of magic. It’s a venue that invites romance, and Amy and Conar brought that in abundance.
I’ve filmed weddings in rain, mist, sideways wind, and once — memorably — with a sheep blocking my tripod, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen an Irish spring day behave quite like it did for Sarah and Nigel. Sunshine. Actual warmth. No jackets needed. I half expected someone to announce it was all part of the couple’s bespoke weather package. But no — just Ireland, showing up for two people who deserved every golden drop.
Sarah and Nigel’s wedding at the Station House Hotel — just a stone’s throw outside Dublin — wasn’t just a day. It was a full-on love story playing out in real time, and I had the privilege of capturing it all on film.
Let’s back up.
If you’d told me back in January that I’d be standing in the gardens of Poulaphouca House in short sleeves filming a wedding in the Irish spring sunshine, I would’ve laughed, politely, and checked to see if you had a fever. But there I was in April, trying not to sweat on my camera gear, capturing Beth and Stephen’s wedding under a sky so blue it looked Photoshopped. I even heard one guest whisper, “I didn’t bring sunglasses, I brought an umbrella — what’s going on?” We were all suspicious. Even the birds looked confused.
You know those days that feel like they were scripted by the universe?
That was Andrea and Colm’s wedding at Darver Castle.
I’ve been lucky enough to film many weddings in beautiful places across Ireland, but there’s something about Darver Castle that immediately slows your pulse the moment you arrive. Nestled just outside Dundalk, it’s the kind of place that whispers stories even before the day begins. Add Andrea and Colm into that picture—two people who just fit—and suddenly, you’re not just capturing a wedding. You’re capturing something timeless.
Some weddings feel like they belong in a fairytale—Gina and Dale’s was one of them. From the moment the first guests arrived at the stunning Cloughjordan House, there was an air of excitement, joy, and genuine love. And, in a plot twist no one saw coming, the Irish sun made a rare but welcome guest appearance, lighting up a day already filled with warmth in every possible way.
As a wedding videographer in Ireland, you come to expect the unexpected—whether it’s emotional moments, a surprise toast, or, yes, even the weather. And if you’ve ever spent a summer day in Ireland, you’ll know that “sunny spells” are often followed by “liquid sunshine.” But on Niamh and Eoghan’s wedding day at The Millhouse in Slane, we were blessed with just the right mix of sunlight and Irish charm (with a light dash of unpredictable clouds to keep us all humble). Someone even joked, “We’ve had all four seasons in the last hour—must be summer in Ireland!”
From the moment I arrived that morning, I could sense the warmth and joy in the air. The Millhouse is one of those venues that perfectly balances rustic elegance with a laid-back atmosphere. Nestled beside the River Boyne, surrounded by tall trees and open skies, it felt like time had paused just for these two to share their day with the people they love.
