There is a unique kind of magic that comes with a wedding held at a family home—especially when that home carries over six centuries of history. Tory and James celebrated their marriage at Tory’s parents' stunning 600-year-old estate, a venue that provided the perfect blend of grandeur and intimacy.

As a wedding photographer in Ireland, I see many venues, but shooting in a location so deeply connected to the couple’s family history adds a layer of warmth that is impossible to replicate. The setting was undeniably atmospheric, grounding the entire day in a sense of legacy and love.

Garden Games & The Perfect Drinks Reception

The atmosphere of the day was defined by connection. Following the ceremony, the drinks reception spilled out onto the lawns, where guests enjoyed the beautiful weather with oversized garden games.

It was one of those rare receptions where the energy was so genuinely friendly and relaxed that I found myself wishing it wouldn't end. There was no rush, just laughter, clinking glasses, and friends enjoying each other's company against the backdrop of the historic house.

Golden Hour & Super 8mm Nostalgia

As the evening approached, we stole away for portraits in a nearby wheat field just as the sun began to set. The light was incredible, offering us that soft, cinematic texture that looks so distinct in photos.

To complement the digital photography, we also captured a significant amount of footage on Super 8mm film. The grain and motion of Super 8 capture the feeling of a memory in a way that modern video sometimes misses. It was the perfect medium to document the raw, candid joy of Tori and James’ celebration.

I have worked with many wedding organizers throughout my career, but this was a standout experience. Angela executed a massive amount of organizational work with such grace that it remained invisible to the guests. The couple, their families, the guests, and even I as the photographer, felt a distinct professional touch. Because of her dedication, the day flowed seamlessly, allowing everyone to be fully present in the moment.

It is a testament to how a great planner allows a wedding to be felt, not just attended.
