Every once in a while, we get to capture a wedding that feels like a real-life fairytale—only with a few more umbrellas. Aoife and Noel’s March wedding at the stunning Bellinter House Hotel near Navan was just that. Romantic, intimate, a little windswept, and full of warmth, laughter, and the kind of love that shines through no matter what the Irish skies have in mind.
We’re a small team offering both wedding photography and videography in Ireland, and we’ve had the pleasure of documenting weddings in every corner of the country. But Bellinter House, with its character-filled interiors and sweeping grounds, remains one of our absolute favourites. It’s a venue that suits any season—but there’s something particularly charming about it in early spring, when everything feels fresh and hopeful (even if the daffodils are dodging raindrops).
A True Family Affair
From the moment we arrived that morning, we could feel that this day was going to be something special. Aoife got ready in one of the elegant rooms upstairs at Bellinter House, surrounded by her closest friends, her mother, and of course, her sweet eight-year-old son Thomas. He was a star from the very beginning—cheeky, curious, and already very good in front of a camera. Watching him proudly help carry the rings and straighten his suit for photos later in the day was heartwarming.
It’s moments like those that remind us why we do what we do. Wedding photography and videography isn't just about the couple—it’s about the whole story. And for Aoife, the story included Thomas, front and centre.
An Emotional Ceremony Indoors (Thanks, Irish Spring!)
Originally, the couple had hoped for an outdoor ceremony on the grounds of Bellinter House. But as any seasoned wedding photographer in Ireland knows, making a Plan B is as Irish as a cup of tea and a biscuit. March weather has a mind of its own—and on this particular day, it decided to bless us with that classic Irish drizzle. You know the kind: the soft rain that looks harmless until you realise your socks are wet.
But no one minded. The ceremony was moved indoors to the Nunnery Room, a beautifully atmospheric space with tall windows, stone walls, and soft natural light. And somehow, the cosy setting made the vows feel even more intimate. Noel could hardly take his eyes off Aoife as she walked in, looking stunning in a lace gown that caught the light with every step.
As wedding videographers working throughout Dublin and beyond, we always say that emotion is what makes a wedding film timeless. This ceremony was full of it—from quiet tears to bursts of laughter, especially when Thomas gave a shy little wave during the exchange of rings. It’s these unscripted moments that bring a wedding day to life on film.
Celebrating in Style at Bellinter House
After the ceremony, the skies briefly cleared—just long enough for us to whisk the newlyweds (and a very cooperative Thomas) outside for some portraits in front of the iconic white facade of Bellinter House. The trees were still bare from winter, but the grounds had a moody charm that gave the photos a timeless feel.
Inside, the reception was held in the Refectory Room, where candlelight flickered off the walls and laughter echoed through the space. Aoife and Noel had kept the guest list small—just close friends and family—which gave the evening a relaxed and heartfelt vibe.
One of our favourite moments came during the speeches, when Thomas stood up (totally unprompted) and declared that “Noel is the best stepdad ever.” We don’t think there was a dry eye in the house—or behind our cameras, for that matter.
Later in the evening, after the first dance (a sweet and slightly wobbly waltz, thanks to Aoife’s heels), the music turned up and the dance floor filled. The mix of classic hits and a few Irish favourites got even the uncles moving. It was the kind of night that didn’t need a flashy set-up—just good tunes, happy people, and a well-stocked bar.
Why Bellinter House Is a Dream Venue
From a wedding photographer’s point of view, Bellinter House is a dream. There’s so much variety—from historic architecture to wild river views to cosy indoor corners for portraits. As videographers, we love how the layout allows us to move unobtrusively and capture everything as it naturally unfolds.
For couples looking for a wedding photographer or videographer in Dublin or across Ireland, Bellinter is also ideally located—close enough to the city for guests to get there easily, but with the serenity of the countryside. It offers that perfect blend of luxury and laid-back charm.
Final Thoughts from Behind the Lens
We feel truly lucky to have been part of Aoife and Noel’s day. Their love is quiet and strong, built on mutual respect, laughter, and a real sense of partnership. It’s clear they’ve built a beautiful life together, and it was an honour to capture the beginning of their next chapter—rain and all.
And as we always say: in Ireland, a bit of rain on your wedding day isn’t bad luck—it’s just the weather showing up to bless the marriage. Besides, it makes for great lighting.
